When it comes to international travel insurance we are a somewhat selfish bunch as we sometimes only look at travel insurance in a self centered manner. That is, there is a prevalent opinion that travel insurance is only available on an individual basis. This is simply not an accurate assessment as there are also a number of providers that offer group and family travel insurance plans. Yes, there the most common insurance plans out there center mostly on individuals but there has been an emergence in recent years of insurance providers who are offering blanket coverage to entire families under one policy. (Hey, it is about time!)

Keep in mind, as much as we do not like to think about mishaps they can often occur. If the family is planning a trip to Tokyo Disney the bulk of the thoughts on people's minds are having fun on the rides and creating a number of great family memories. It also doesn't hurt to take a bunch of family pictures that will forever create a snapshot in time of the events. What we do not think of are unexpected sickness or injury that could require immediate attention. And, of course, we do not think of the bills that are associated with such treatment until the bills arrive. When they do we wish we had insurance available. Well, a more accurate assessment of this situation would be we wished we took advantage of the family insurance premiums that are available.

Of course, the cost of the premiums will vary from provider to provider and pre-existing conditions will be factored into the cost of the premiums. But, if you are diligent in your search you will surely find a policy that will effectively provide your family with the coverage they require.
